Let’s face it; warts are ugly, and they just seem to appear out of the blue. One moment you have no warts on your body, and the next moment they’re popping up everywhere. Anyone can get warts, irrespective of age or gender, although kids do tend to get warts more often than adults do, but with kids, the warts more often than not disappear without any form of treatment being necessary. This holds true for adults as well, but in the vast majority of cases, warts on adults won’t just disappear, and in fact, they can be incredibly persistent. Sure, if you just have one small wart on your finger, you can more than likely live with it, but you also need to bear in mind that because warts are essentially a virus, a single wart can spread to other areas of your body. Of course, the more warts you have, the more chance there is of them spreading, and if you’ve ever seen a really severe case of warts, you’ll know it’s not a pretty sight. Fortunately for those who have warts, there are many ways to get rid of them.
- The first step in getting rid of warts begins in your mind. In other words, you need to realize right from the start that your warts are not going to disappear overnight. Yes, you can have them surgically removed, in which case, you’ll be wart free in a matter of minutes, but if you want to get rid of them yourself, it’s going to require a certain amount of dedication. You see a lot of false claims on the Internet saying you can get rid of your warts in three days, but if you buy into such claims, you’ll simply be lining yourself up for disappointment.
- The next step involves disciplining yourself to keep your hands off. That’s right, no scratching them, no rubbing them, and definitely no picking them. Every time you touch a wart, you risk spreading the virus. Even if you don’t spread the virus, picking at a wart often causes it to get bigger, and the bigger it gets, the harder it’s going to be to get rid of it.
- Okay, now that we’re clear on what’s required, you need to decide on which home remedy you want to use. These remedies all work, although some work quicker than others. Also, depending on where on your body the warts are, some remedies may not be suitable.
- Duct tape can be placed on the warts continually for a number of days. Each time the tape is removed, it peels away a tiny bit of the warts, and it softens the surface, which in turn allows you to manually remove some of the warts surface with a pumice stone. The danger here however is that you could cause it to spread.
- Other remedies involve rubbing the warts with banana peel every day, or else taping on a cotton wool swab that’s been soaked in tea tree oil or apple cider vinegar. Lemon peel or orange peel can also be rubbed on the warts several times each day for a number of days. The downside to these remedies is that they take quite long to deliver results.
- Perhaps the easiest and most efficient way to get rid of warts is simply by means of suffocation. If you can suffocate the warts, they will disappear in a matter of days. A drop or two of silver nitrate on your warts will clear them up in a few days, but if you cannot get any silver nitrate, you can use anything that has the ability to suffocate the warts.
